ToolBrainy provides free browser-based tools for everyday tasks. Most of what you do on this site stays entirely on your device — we built it that way on purpose. This page explains the full picture: what we collect, why, and how.

What We Collect

Tool Input and Output

Local tools such as the Word Counter, PDF Merger, and BMI Calculator process their inputs in your browser. Files selected for our file-processing tools are not uploaded to our servers.

Network features work differently. The Meta Tag Analyzer and live robots.txt fetcher send the URL you enter to ToolBrainy's server so it can request the public resource. API-testing features send requests to the endpoint you choose, and live-data tools may request information from external providers. Those servers receive the request information needed to respond. Avoid entering private URLs, access tokens, or confidential information in public URL-checking tools. Visiting the site also makes normal requests to our hosting service and to services used by the page.

Contact Messages

If you contact us, we receive the name, email address, country, and message you provide. We use this only to respond to you and retain messages for up to 12 months.

Usage Data

Like most websites, we collect usage information through Google Analytics 4: pages visited, time on site, browser type, device type, and approximate location (country/region). This helps us understand which tools people find useful and how to improve the site. IP addresses may be collected temporarily by our web server logs but are not stored in analytics reports.

Cookies and Browser Storage

The site uses browser storage and may use cookies for the following purposes:

Preferences — Remembering your consent choice in local browser storage.
Analytics — Understanding site usage through Google Analytics 4.
Advertising — Supporting advertising where ads are enabled, subject to your choices and applicable consent requirements.

You can accept, reject, or manage non-essential preferences when the consent banner appears. Your choice is saved in local storage. To choose again, clear ToolBrainy's site data, including local storage, in your browser settings and reload the site. Clearing cookies alone may not reset this preference. Google Consent Mode may send cookieless measurement signals when analytics storage is denied; rejecting storage does not mean that all network requests stop.

Google AdSense and Advertising

Where Google AdSense advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to ToolBrainy and other sites on the Internet, subject to applicable consent requirements.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

Third-party ad servers may use cookies, JavaScript, or web beacons sent directly to your browser. ToolBrainy has no control over these cookies once placed. For more information, see Google's Privacy & Terms.

Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect the information we handle. All connections to ToolBrainy use HTTPS encryption. Local file processing does not upload your selected files. Network features and contact submissions transmit the information described above. Contact submissions pass through our website and email infrastructure to reach support@toolbrainy.com; hosting and email providers process that information to deliver the service.

Data Retention

Contact messages are kept for up to 12 months unless you request earlier deletion. Files processed locally are not stored on our servers. Live robots.txt fetch results are cached on our server for five minutes. Analytics retention depends on the settings applied to our Google Analytics property. Contact us for information about the current retention settings and data held about you.

Third-Party Links

Some pages on ToolBrainy link to external websites. This policy applies only to toolbrainy.com. External sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices.

Your Rights Under GDPR (EU/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have the following rights under GDPR:

Right to Access — Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
Right to Rectification — Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Right to Erasure — Ask us to delete your personal data where there is no legal basis to retain it.
Right to Data Portability — Request your data in a portable format.
Right to Restrict Processing — Ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved.

Legal basis for processing: Analytics data is processed under our legitimate interest in improving our tools. Advertising data is processed on the basis of your consent given through the cookie banner. Data processed by Google Analytics and Google AdSense may be transferred to servers in the United States under Google's standard contractual clauses and data transfer mechanisms.

Your Rights Under CCPA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the following rights:

Right to Know — Request details about categories of personal information we collect and how it is used.
Right to Delete — Request deletion of personal information we have collected about you.
Right to Opt Out of Sale — We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

To submit a CCPA request, email support@toolbrainy.com with the subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days.

Your Choices

Decline advertising cookies via the consent banner on first visit.
Clear or block cookies through your browser settings; clear site data including local storage to reset your saved consent choice.
Opt out of Google personalized ads via the links above.
Use ToolBrainy tools without creating an account. Network requests and voluntary contact messages are handled as described above.

Children's Privacy

ToolBrainy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us so we can remove it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Changes are posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
